Solutions for Hospitals & Systems
Dedicated to Hospital Patient Safety and Clinical Improvement
Hospitals are dedicated to patient safety and to improving human life through the delivery of high-quality health care. APS believes that the collaborative practice model best supports these goals. All clinicians are integral to the process of providing high-quality care with reduced errors. To be an effective member of a hospital patient safety team, every member of that team should be educated appropriately about the process.

Advanced Practice Strategies
Developed with experts from the Harvard Medical Institutions and partners like Stanford Hospitals & Clinics, APS online medical education is focused on clinical practice in areas like obstetrics, surgery, and internal medicine. The APS eLearning courses reflect currently accepted standards and protocols as well as the wisdom of known experts. Through these courses, clinicians can practice their decision-making skills in a safe environment and benefit from individualized feedback provided by highly respected leaders in their field.
APS courses are designed to suit the learning styles and busy work environment of clinicians. These clinicians are engaged in managing a wide range of case scenarios and dealing effectively with other members of a clinical team. A flexible, learner-centric design ensures that APS courses can improve hospital patient safety while satisfying the needs of clinicians with different levels of expertise and different roles.
To support the collaborative practice model, courses presented by Advanced Practice Strategies provide nurses access to the same content presented to doctors. This allows nurses to deepen their understanding of medical situations. Nurses are not required, or tested, on physician content. It is available so that nurses have the option to learn and investigate as they desire. Additional nursing-specific content, tools, and expert advice are also provided.
APS offers hospitals and hospital systems a comprehensive solution to lifelong education of their entire clinical staff. This solution focuses on enhancing hospital patient safety and is designed to promote improvement in practice while allowing the greatest possible flexibility for both students and managers. The full APS eLearning solution includes:
- A broad program of training in Obstetrics, Surgery, Internal Medicine, and Core Content focused on the most prevalent sources of error and their solutions, developed and distributed in conjunction with key partners including Stanford, CRICO/RMF (Harvard), AORN, and AWHONN.
- Competency Maintenance monthly subscription modules designed to use clinically relevant interactive cases to refine and hone skills acquired in the initial training and to maximize the value of the investment in education by eliminating the impact of knowledge degradation.
- Ongoing access to all training modules as a reference tool at significantly reduced expense after initial training has been completed.
- "Universal Access" that creates complete flexibility over time for students and administrators based on an annual subscription model, an unlimited number of students, and immediate initiation of Competency Maintenance enrollment on completion of initial training.
