APS eLearning

Clinically relevant, highly individualized, team-focused lifelong continuing medical education.

APS eLearning modules reflect currently accepted standards and protocols as well as the expertise of renowned experts for continuing medical education (CME). Through these courses, clinicians can practice their decision-making skills in a safe environment and benefit from feedback provided by highly respected leaders in their field.

APS online CME and CE courses are designed to suit the learning styles and busy work environment of clinicians. We engage these clinicians in managing a wide range of case scenarios and dealing effectively with other members of a clinical team. A flexible, learner-centric design ensures that our courses can satisfy the needs of clinicians with different levels of expertise and different roles. These key principles reflect the APS approach to online continuing medical education:

Highlights

  • Courses reflect currently accepted standards/protocols
  • Authored by renown experts
  • Learner-centric design
  • Collaborative practice model
  • Lifelong CME (continuing medical education)
"At APS we focus on identifying the gap—such as common technical errors with a particular procedure or breakdowns in teamwork during a shoulder dystocia case. We then apply adult learning principles to select the best components and course design based on the patient safety issues we have identified. The bar we set for ourselves is to fill the gap through the excellence of the courseware we create. Anything less is not worth our time."

Long-term partnerships

Our long-term partnerships with organizations such as Stanford and the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) ensure that our courses address critical issues of national import.

Renowned clinical experts

We partner with physicians and nurses who are leaders in their fields. As a result, our continuing medical education content is medically accurate and directly relevant to the challenges clinicians face.

Collaborative practice model

We integrate content for both nurses and physicians into our courses. Our flexible design allows clinicians to focus on the content most relevant to them. At the same time, however, by teaching physicians and nurses together, we reinforce a collaborative practice model. A nurse needs to understand the rationale for a physician’s decision, for example, in order to implement it well and protect the patient’s safety.

Competency maintenance

Everyone requires frequent review and reassessment to keep their skills sharp. APS provides half-hour competency maintenance modules on a subscription basis for this purpose.

Content chunked for easy access

Presentation and structure matter in online CE and CME education. Learners need to be engaged in relevant content within a few minutes, or they mentally turn off and simply click through to finish a requirement. APS courses are highly interactive and designed so that clinicians can work through them in 10- to 15-minute chunks of time.

Universal access

Our universal access delivery option, while highly convenient for administrators, also ensures that learners with different experience and knowledge can move through the programs at their own pace.
