APS DEG donates medical illustration boards to CSTL, encourages scientific literacy in the next generation.

APS’s Demonstrative Evidence Group (DEG), the leading provider of jury education and visual strategy in the defense of medical malpractice, today announced their effort to encourage scientific literacy in the next generation by donating medical illustration boards to the Center for Scientific Teaching and Learning (CSTL).

CSTL is a not-for-profit organization with the mission to encourage science learning and literacy. They provide people of all ages with the opportunity to study science in an exploratory and inquisitive way that mimics how a scientist may conduct an experiment or make new discoveries. This type of inquiry-based learning gives people the tools to learn on their own by giving them the ability to ask questions, find answers, and propose solutions. The use of the inquiry-based teaching strategy is the philosophy threaded into CSTL's services and programming, which includes animal exhibits, a nursery school program, private party hosting and school field trips.

“APS’s Demonstrative Evidence Group is proud to donate over 500 non-case-specific medical illustration boards to CSTL to forward their mission to encourage scientific learning in the next generation,” said Timothy J. Croke, VP and General Manager of APS’s Demonstrative Evidence Group. “We are looking forward to continuing this relationship with CSTL and are also looking forward to similar efforts to repurpose our boards in positive, education-oriented ways with our insurance and law firm customers in their local areas. Additionally, these illustration boards were created by our team of talented medical illustrators and unfortunately, cannot be recycled. In our efforts to be more environmentally conscious, we are delighted to see them reused in this capacity.”

“We applaud APS on their efforts to enrich the scientific learning of thousands of young people,” said Dr. Ray Ann Havasy, Director at CSTL. “All CSTL-affiliated schools will have the opportunity to use the beautiful and informative boards in the classroom to promote inquiry-based learning.”
